Radiometer of alpha and beta radiation RKBA-01 RADEK
Scintillation radiometer RKBA-01 RADEK is designed for measuring gross alpha and beta activity and also gross specific activity.
The
radiometer represents a laboratory device which has a block design and
consists of:
- analog-to-digital-converter
(MCA - multichannel analyzer) MD-198;
- detection units BDA-60(70) and
BDB-60(70);
- A/C adapter for analyzer;
- two low-background
chambers with passive shielding from external alpha and beta – radiation;
- computer;
A scintillator of ZnS(Ag) with diameter 60(70) mm is used as a detector in detection unit of alpha radiation BDA-60 (BDA-70). A scintillator of polystyrene with diameter 60(70) mm and thickness 1 mm is used as a detector in detection unit of beta radiation BDB-60 (BDB-70).

Radiometer technical information (in pdf):
Range of registered energies:
· alpha - radiating radionuclides
from 2000 to 10000 keV;
· beta – radiating radionuclides
from 65 to 4000 keV.
Sensitivity of radiometer to alpha - radiation
of radionuclide 239Pu in a point geometry (from source “3P9”) on the
distance 4 mm from the end surface of detection unit BDA-60 is no less than 0,3
(cps)/(Bq);
Sensitivity of radiometer to beta
- radiation of radionuclide 90Sr-90Y in a point geometry (from source “3С0”) on the
distance 4 mm from the end surface of detection unit BDB-60 is no less than 0,24
(cps)/(Bq);
Range of activity measurement of alpha
- radiating radionuclides with detection unit BDA-60 is 0,1 - 5·104 Bq.
Limit of the main permissible error of activity measurement doesn’t exceed
±20%.
Range of activity measurement of beta
– radiating radionuclides with detection unit BDB-60 is 0,1 - 5·104 Bq.
Limit of the main permissible error of activity measurement doesn’t exceed
±20%.
Minimum detectable activity of radionuclide
239Pu with detection unit BDA-60 with background of external
gamma-radiation 0,15 µSv/h and measurement time 3 hours doesn’t exceed 3∙10-3
Bq.
Minimum detectable activity of radionuclide 90Sr-90Y
with detection unit BDB-60 with background of external gamma-radiation 0,15 µSv/h
